We have been Officially Considered for the Action Cut Film Festival.  What does this festival mean?  This is a networking opportunity beyond most film festival competitions and they also have seminars that can take our filmmaking goals to the next level!  Cross your fingers as we will find out on August 15th is we are contenders in this great festival!

We were contacted by Janic Plotkin at the Mill Valley Film Festival and asked if we would be interested in submitting our film to the Mill Valley Film Festival.  This festival focuses on local artists and has a rich 32 year history!  It is an honor and we will be submitting it to them today!  Check it out at Mill Valley Film Festival!

We have submitted LEVEL ZERO to the following Film Festivals.  The closest one is Action/ Cut Film Festival which has some pretty incredible prizes as well as contacts in the industry if you win, so we had to give this one a shot!  Zero Film Festival had a requirement that this was a self funded movie and since this was I thought it would be appropriate!.  Slamdance happens during Sundance in Utah and really focuses on new and upcoming filmmakers.  It would be an honor to be selected to any of these.  Finally Cinequest was selected since I was there and worked with Cinequest last year and what I saw was an incredible energy surrounding every film that was screened, the people that put this festival together are inspiring and incredibly helpful!  Wish us luck in the coming year as we look forward to the results on whether we are selected later this year!

ALAMEDA THEATRE & CINEPLEX  

Donation Presentation to 

Oakland Police Officers Association Funds 

for Families of the Fallen Officers

ALAMEDA, California – June 5, 2009 at 6:30pm – Kyle Conner, Owner of the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex will present the donation check to the Oakland Police Officers Association before a movie-going crowd in the Historic Alameda Theatre.  The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex will make a cash donation of $14,011.,  proceeds from the theatres’ fundraiser event held May 18^th;  “Officers Remembered”  benefitting the families of the four fallen Oakland Police Officers.  

The event entertained over 500 guests who were treated to a spectacular evening of fine wine, beer, Fireman’s Chili & Cornbread, served by volunteers from Alameda Police Department, Alameda Fire Department and American Medical Response.  The event was highlighted by live music and a documentary film about Emergency Medical Services in Alameda County made by a local upcoming film maker and paramedic, Thaddeus Setla. 

The theatre is currently engaged in a fundraiser opportunity for six local schools and/or youth organizations allowing the youth programs to sell tickets and keep all proceeds for the theatres’ Summer Family Movie Series beginning June 15.  A series of 10 movies will be presented in the Historic Theatre on Monday’s and Tuesday’s at 10:00am, from June through August.  A series of 10 movie tickets can be purchased for $10. (one dollar each) in advance from the youth organizations or at the Theatre Box Office.   Day of show tickets are available at the Theatre Box Office for $2.00 each (child or adult).  Youth ticket sale sponsors are Girls Inc., Boys and Girls Club, St. Philip Neri Elementary School, St. Joseph Elementary School, NEA Community Learning Center and Alameda Education Foundation.  Films include Shrek, Madagascar, The Secret of Nimh, The Black Stallion, Babe, Robots, Muppets Take Manhattan and several others.
